Background
Water resources are subjected to growing pressures in conjunction with global factors such as population growth, economic development and climate change. A good knowledge and easy access to the facts and information about the state and evolution of the water resources and uses is one of the keys for the success of a water policy. Thus, water managers need reliable, regularly updated and relevant information to make the right decisions, monitor the impact of the implemented measures and communicate with the public.
